Marvin J. Leavitt
Founding Partner
Mr. Leavitt is a Founding Partner with Grund & Leavitt. He has litigated a number of high profile trials and appeals in both federal and state courts.
Before becoming a partner in the firm, he served as a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois and as a justice on the Illinois Appellate Court. This followed 20 years in a successful private practice. The Chicago Bar Association remarked when evaluating him that "he enjoys impeccable credentials" and the Chicago Council of Lawyers stated he "has outstanding legal ability, an excellent temperament…and is hard working," rating him highly qualified to serve in the judiciary.
Not only has Mr. Leavitt tried hundreds of cases as a lawyer, he presided over thousands of matters as a judge and has authored opinions in almost every area of the law while a justice of the Appellate Court.
Mr. Leavitt is a Grund & Leavitt, P.C. partner and has practiced law since 1976. Mr. Leavitt served as a member of the guest faculty for the University of Chicago Intensive Trial Advocacy Program; he was a participant/lecturer in numerous legal workshops, seminars, and forums, and served as a judge for numerous moot court competitions and trial advocacy classes.
