PATERNITY/PARENTAGE CASES

Paternity, or “parentage” cases, as they are referred to in the applicable Illinois statute, address the issues of custody, parenting time, child support and contribution to college education expenses where the child’s or children’s parents are not married to one another.

Unmarried parents have the same rights and responsibilities with respect to caring for their children, decision-making on parenting issues, and supporting and educating their children, as do married parents. Grund & Leavitt has extensive experience representing both parents and children in parentage cases and in bringing parents together to work towards an outcome that is both in the best interest of the children and acceptable to both parents.
